Microchannels on glass surfaces

Intravolume 3D features

Using short laser pulses (sub-ns) we can effort to produce a very efficient interaction also on hard transparent materials thanks to their high peak power (up to 1 MW). We demonstrate that we can achieve very clean processing both on the surface and inside glass samples.

In particular, surface engraving is exploited to produce arbitrary shapes (contrast engraved text lines and geometrical shapes), barcodes and microchannels. The capability of focusing inside the transparent glass can be used for creating 2D or 3D intravolume pictures and for creating an arbitrary pattern for dicing a thin hard material.
